[quote="KAKERU"]Yes, the second one is from the Italian DVDs. I am glad they fixed and balanced the reds, they did such a wonderful job.

@Toni_jupiter: There are two screenshots for screenshotcomparison.com
The second one has less banding than the first one :)

shame the ITA ones do not have english sub on them :( someone needs to release one with english subs with that master!

omg that used to bug me so much in the first season especially, the stock footage would always be so pink/orange as the scene was used more and more. are the italian dvds consistent with matching color to the rest of the episode or is it just this specific scene?

People say its impossible to achieve perfection. I say Kakeru has overcome perfection in encoding anime video. The quality is extremely impressive and I really like how you added more subtitle types for the episode, Kakeru. I love switching between fancy and simple subtitles based on my mood. LOL

By the way, I love the new translation style better. It sounds more common and closer to the everyday life ;)

Thank you so much! We worked really hard on this and we took the quality control stage very seriously. We are still going through the script to see if we find errors of any kind. We want these re-releases to be perfect.

Come to think of it (while watching episode 01 again), when Sailor Moon was doing her Super Sonic Crying Wave, what was Tuxedo Mask doing then? Staying there plugging his ears or running off temporarily & then coming back for some more irrelevant heroic words (no offense, his saying seems unnecessary to me most of the times)?

The subtitle options are interesting, I didn't know until yesterday that it's possible to create subtitles that are possible for the viewer to customize, changing the font etc. There are a handful of other shows I've seen where I've wanted to change to a plainer font and get rid of animated subtitles and all that, I would have liked to have an option like this at that time. But I'd never need to use it for this release, because the font looks good and the color coding is the one subtitling "extra" that I completely love.

I was almost shocked to see how good this episode looks. I mean... last year my interest in anime was renewed by seeing an SMC release using the R2 DVDs. I had only ever seen it on 4th generation VHS copies or fuzzy, off-color, low quality US DVDs. The R2 quality was more impressive to me than when I first saw HDTV compared to SDTV, it looked so much better than I knew was possible.

And now this release blows that away. Everything is so much cleaner and more focused. If anyone hasn't done it yet, load up any scene in the old v2 version. Then either take a screenshot, or open a second player, or whatever you can do it in order to get a side-by-side comparison of the two videos. In fact I'll post one now.

Just look at the colors, the lines, the legibility of the writing on Usagi's books... it's like the old R2 DVDs were like watching it through a dirty window, and now it's been wiped clean.
